Integrated Surveillance Network for Citywide Police Monitoring for Visakhapatnam City Police Commissionerate

objective:

The primary objective of this project was to strengthen the security infrastructure of the Visakhapatnam City Police Commissionerate through the deployment of a robust CCTV surveillance system. This initiative, supported under the RINL-CSR initiative, aimed to provide comprehensive visual coverage across key locations within the Steel Plant Police Station jurisdiction, including entry points, parking zones, stations, and internal facilities like the canteen and plant premises.

90 +

Cameras Installed

Challenges :

  1. 1 Identifying Security Gaps: The initial challenge was to assess and pinpoint the strategic locations that required surveillance coverage within a high-movement industrial area.
  2. 2 Customized Deployment: Each surveillance point had unique requirements based on activity levels and structural design, requiring a tailored installation plan rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.
  3. 3 Scalability and Maintenance: Ensuring that the system could be scaled and maintained efficiently in the future, especially in a high-security zone like a police jurisdiction, was another significant concern.
  4. 4 Integration Within Existing Infrastructure: The new surveillance system had to be implemented without disrupting the existing operations or infrastructure of the police stations and facilities.

Solutions :

  1. 1Conducting an on-ground analysis to map security hotspots.
  2. 2Deploying 90 CCTV cameras at key locations including security gates, parking areas, station premises, plant interiors, entry/exit points, and common spaces such as the canteen.
  3. 3Providing end-to-end solutions including supply, installation, and ongoing maintenance to ensure uninterrupted surveillance.
  4. 4Utilizing reliable and field-tested surveillance equipment suited for high-activity zones.
  5. 5Collaborating closely with the Police Commissionerate and RINL-CSR stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.

RESULTS:

The project successfully delivered full surveillance coverage of all designated areas within the Steel Plant Police Station limits.

Installation was completed without operational delays or system downtimes.

Real-time monitoring capabilities improved the operational visibility and responsiveness of the police department.
